Position Description

Are you passionate about business, skilled at digging into data, and eager to support financial strategy with tech-savvy solutions? Do you excel at researching, organizing, and presenting complex financial information in a way that drives results? If yes, keep reading.

We’re looking for a detail-oriented, analytically-minded Finance & Data Specialist to support FinElevate’s leadership and Operations team. The ideal candidate thrives on pulling and manipulating data, uncovering insights, and helping to create actionable financial strategies. This is not your typical assistant role — you’ll play a vital part in leveraging our proprietary tools, working closely with clients to understand their financial models, researching best practices, and preparing insightful reports that inform high-level decisions.

If you love business, numbers, and translating big-picture ideas into actionable steps, we’d love to hear from you!

Note: this is a CONTRACTOR position.

Responsibilities

  • Pull and manipulate client data for use in FinElevate’s proprietary financial tools.
  • Work with clients to understand their business model, revenue streams, and other financial components of the business.
  • Research financial best practices and summarize findings for leadership.
  • Prepare reporting for CFO.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Financial and business acumen: experience in bookkeeping, accounting, and analysis.
  • Adept researcher: Can search out, summarize, and package up key information succinctly and efficiently.
  • Good with numbers: Has a natural aptitude for understanding and working with numbers, with the ability to process information and identify trends from data.
  • Problem solver: Thrives on identifying and addressing challenges, using their analytical and creative thinking skills to develop effective solutions.
  • Detail oriented: Relishes the details and doesn't let anything fall through the cracks. Accurate and makes very few mistakes.
  • Tech savvy: Adept at learning new technology and tools and integrating them into their work.
  • Proficient in QuickBooks Online and other financial tools.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel (formatting, formulas, graphing)

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience with small business finances
  • Experience with Monday.com

Company Overview

FinElevate is on a mission to help entrepreneurs build a better business with more freedom. We’re a fractional CFO service, but we provide a lot more than the typical financial reporting. We bring data clarity, team training, and a proven playbook to help our clients’ businesses thrive.

As a fully remote, young company, we are scrappy, high-energy, and incredibly passionate about helping clients improve their businesses.

Company Core Values

  • Head on a swivel: We ask, “what does this mean?” and “what if?” like other people ask about the weather. Never satisfied with the status quo, we are always looking for ways to improve. Whether it’s identifying the root cause of an issue, or reimagining our entire client onboarding process, we see potential where others see problems.
  • Elevate with tech: The accounting space is typically filled with manual work and outdated processes, but we’re not like that. We employ the latest tools and automation to elevate our team, allowing them to focus on what humans do best – human relationships, strategy, and creative thought.
  • Good with numbers: We’re numbers nerds. The kind of people that look at a math problem and think “that looks kinda fun.” Drawn to the quantifiable, we use our energy for numerical reasoning, data-driven decisions, and strategy to reveal opportunities for our clients.
  • Servant leadership: We believe that true leaders are driven not by personal gain, but by the impact they have on others. Our goal is to do right by our colleagues, customers, and company and help them achieve more. Through them, we find fulfillment.
  • Extreme ownership: We don’t shy away from accountability. Each team member is an expert in their role and is trusted with that role. Team members own their decisions, actions, results, environment, and HOW things get done.
  • Learn and grow every day: Curious. Life-long learners. Our team is proactive in seeking out new opportunities to learn and continuously improve their skills. We cultivate an environment that supports experimentation, fosters creativity, and encourages our team members to take smart risks.

Hiring Process

We are firm believers in data and objective assessments to reduce bias in the hiring process. For that reason we leverage an assessment tool before asking for any other information. This allows us to rate candidates on the core competencies and skills needed for the role and streamline the interview experience.

Process outline:

Online assessment – Estimated time is 32-40 minutes. The assessment is divided into 4 parts, each chosen with much thought to cover the technical skills required for the job. Doing this assessment allows us to focus our interview time on core values.
